THICKENER AET-709

Thickener AET-709 is an alkali-soluble acrylic thickener and thickens instantly when neutralized to a pH between 8.0 and 9.0. It is designed for improving the high shear viscosity and the leveling of coating applications. The product is provided in latex form with very low viscosity and is suitable for most water-based products.

Method of Use and Example

If the system to be thickened has a pH below 5.0, AET-709 can be added directly with gentle agitation followed by the addition of an alkali solution to adjust the pH to between 8.0 and 9.0 for the best thickening efficiency. On the other hand, if the system to be thickened has a higher pH, it is recommended to dilute AET-709 with at least same amount of water for better dispersion. An alkali solution is then added to adjust the pH to between 8.0 and 9.0. This product is applicable to any latex polymers for coating applications when good leveling is important.
