ACRYLIC PRIMER AP-200

Acrylic Primer AP-200 is an acrylic-styrene emulsion copolymer with very fine particle sizes and good adhesion to many different substrates. It can penetrate into the substrates to form a strong network, provide high level of water resistance, strengthen the adhesion between old and new concretes, and improve the workability for self-leveling concretes. This product is a multifunctional construction material. It is highly compatible with cement and powder filling materials and can also be used independently as a waterproofing coating. The clear film of has a tensile strength of about 13 kg/cm^2 and 1000% elongation.

This product has the following benefits:

  • Excellent water resistance and weatherability
  • Good adhesion to various substrates
  • Good workability
  • Water-based and environmentally friendly
  • Suitable for any construction work

Typical Physical Properties

  • Appearance: White emulsion
  • Solids: 49.0 ± 1.0%
  • pH: 8.0 ± 1.0
  • Specific gravity: 1.05
  • Viscosity: 10,000 ± 3,000 cps (Brookfield, RVT, #6, 5 rpm)
  • Tg: About 20 °C

Method of Use

Remove all loose material, grease, and contaminates from the substrate to ensure a clean surface. Apply a thin uniform coating of AP-200 (diluted with 3X volumes of water) using either a spray or a brush. About 30 minutes later, apply the second coating of AP-200 (diluted with 3X volumes of water) as needed. Allow primer to dry and make sure the ground is tack-free (about 30 minutes), then apply self-leveling underlayment, concrete, elastic cement, or any other construction works. The coverage of AP-200 will depend on surface porosity. Typically, 1 Kg of AP-300 can cover about 5 to 7 square meters.
