ELASTIC CEMENT LATEX CE-880

Elastic Cement Latex CE-880 is an acrylic-styrene emulsion copolymer. It is compatible with cement and many other types of fillers. It is designed as the waterproof product for construction applications by mixing one part of CE-880 and one part of cement-based powder. The resulting mixture will form a waterproofing membrane with excellent water resistance and elasticity when it is applied on the substrate and air-dried. The product is an environmentally friendly aqueous dispersion and is suitable for use in new constructions and restoration of old constructions, both indoor and outdoor.

This product has the following benefits:

  • Excellent water resistance suitable for outdoor and indoor usage
  • Superior bond strength to a wide variety of substrates such as old cement, brickwork, wood, and metal
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Can be worked on a wet surface
  • Superior mechanical (tensile strength and elongation) properties
  • Excellent workability
  • Suitable for painting, tiling, or other construction work
  • Unlike PU, it can be worked on a portion of the restoration area

Typical Physical Properties

  • Appearance: White emulsion
  • Solids: 54.0 ± 1.0%
  • pH: 8.0 ± 1.0
  • Specific gravity: 1.06
  • Viscosity: 7,000 ± 2,000 cps (Brookfield, RVT, #3, 10 rpm)
  • Tg: -10 °C

Method of Use

Prepare a clean surface by removing all loose, disintegrated material, dirt, grease, oil, and efflorescence. Substrate must be structurally sound. A mortar can be prepared by thoroughly mixing equal weight of cement-based powder and CE-880 before application. The coverage of CE-880 will depend on surface porosity. Typically, 1 Kg of CE-880 can cover about one square meter at about 1 mm dry film thickness and give excellent waterproof performance. If apply on a vertical surface, the addition of about 0.5% thickener is recommended for better workability.
