THICKENER DP-325
Thickener DP-325 is a thickener/emulsifier which can emulsify oils in water and produce thick and stable emulsions for cosmetic applications with creamy and glide-on feel to meet the needs of most demanding formulations at low dosage levels. It is a ready-to-use liquid copolymer (INCI name: Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer and C12-14 Isoparaffin and Polysorbate 80). It is developed for water-based products and polar organic solvents such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and glycerol. This product provides remarkable thickening power between pH 2.0 and pH 12.0, very good mechanical stability and electrolyte resistance. It is especially suitable for systems which polyacrylic acid thickeners do not meet application requirements. The product can be used directly at room temperature and does not require the addition of ammonia or other alkali to the system.
This product has the following benefits:
- Extremely easy to use and highly efficient
- Very stable emulsion for long-term uniform quality
- Excellent emulsifier for all types of oily phases
- Effective over a wide pH range
Typical Physical Properties
- Appearance: Creamy liquid
- Solids: 47 ± 1.0%
- pH: 7.5 ± 1.0
- Specific gravity: 1.22
- Viscosity: About 100,000 cps (Brookfield RVT, #6, 5 rpm)
Method of Use and Example
Water or solvent is added to the pre-weighed DP-325, with or without oil phase, with gentle agitation until a smooth and homogeneous gel is formed. The results of three examples are shown in the following table:
